In Memory of Little Mamma (aka
Duchess)
who lost her fight for life on
February 25, 2007.
This is Little Mamma (also known as
Duchess). She came to our farm in the early winter of 2000. She
was severely malnourished, not by abuse - but her previous owner
had passed away and left a herd of ponies behind. No one fed,
watered or cared for the ponies for months before they were
rescued . She had two (yes, two) foals nursing off of her. Her
hooves were so overgrown, we were not sure if she would ever be
sound again - at her point of rescue, we weren't even sure if
she would live. Every bone in her body stuck out from hips to
ribs to shoulder blades; she also suffered from rain rot, lice
and had a severely imbedded shoe in one of her hooves.
Peaches and Baxter (the two foals that
were nursing from her at the time of rescue) have both since
been adopted. Peaches resides at our farm with her filly
Piper,
and Baxter is only a few miles away at another wonderful home.
Duchess lived out the remainder of her
life here; ridden and loved dearly children of all ages. She was
a wonderful pony, full of love for children and life -
she can never be replaced and is missed dearly.
We are grateful to have been part of
her life.
